Jamie Escalante

Wikipedia states that Jamie Escalante was a Bolivian educator well known for teaching students calculus from 1974 to 1991 at Garfield High School in Los Angeles California. According to the (1988) film Stand and Deliver, Jaime Escalante was an inspiration to young and troubled students of Garfield. It is evident that he was an incredible motivational speaker, helping his students to succeed in algebra and calculus on their own merit.  "One of the greatest things you have in life is that no one has the authority to tell you what you want to be. You’re the one who’ll decide what you want to be.”

Malcom X

Upon reading the bio/headnote of Malcolm X I was immediately captured and curious about the date he had died and the year civil rights had become law in America for all black people. It to me showed resemblance to a similar moment in history when Abraham Lincoln had won the civil war, and in consequence helped liberate slaves across the southwest. A year after south conceded President Lincoln was assassinated much like the murder of Malcolm X. The connections to me are worth noting on account that these two men were self-educated, reared in poor families, and were among the greatest speakers of their time. It is indicative to view the story of Malcolm X as a proliferation of individualism in black communities or poor families and the like. He describes the life he was taught growing up before entering jail then entails a memoire which he journeys through the power self-reflection, self-endowment, and self-education.    

Goats, the new dogcatcow

The goat, a noble animal having an ability to listen without interruption with a warm stare of their square pupils. Some would say it makes for a great pet, and there is much that goats have in common with our household pets of today. Like dogs and cats the goat is a domesticated farm animal. In rural parts of the U.S and countries across the world goats are found in many farm settings, although many people do keep them in their homes for their fabled companionship, goatees and their dairy delights.

Finger Paint

Finger paint, a lost art-form among parents and adult the like but widely entertained among children. Its messy yet therapeutic style is an ancient technique that allowed the first per-expressionist artists of the caves to use their sense of touch to elaborate the kinds of life and animals they encountered. An array of colors apply to all ten digits of the hand including the palm and fist, although each can independently be assigned to each finger it is not wise to combine or mix fingers in other paints a mistake children make all too often.

Pre-writing

In the past I was always afraid of writing or in any case English itself. I struggled when it came to writing papers in grammar school through high school. When I was in my first year of high school (possibly middle school) hearing about the “writing process” sounded like a good thing for me, but never found myself actually doing it. In my years in high school English classes I would hold my head in the sand ignoring due dates and deadlines till the last day or night before. Inevitably I never made the time to sit and go through a writing process that allowed me to periodically improve my thoughts and ideas. At this time in my life I usually wrote the paper and revised it once or twice, which definitely at times reflected in my marks and grades.

How I learned to program computers

Few things I found useful since reading this programmers success story of experience and work ethic was passion, practice and perseverance. When writing about my own personal experience about education and something I learned, I believe that important concepts to my ability and skill in my chosen topic need to be explained in detail and reflect why it is I’m writing about a particular subject. Also organization in a coherent manner is equally important, something a saw apparent in the article as he chronicles his life in his  side projects which follow as his first, second and third websites. I see this style to be important as to remind the reader where the story will lead and what it entails to explain or convey. This organization again helps emphasis that “Practice makes perfect” as he assures to be a key component to reaching his own goals along the way. Another important writing technique the writer uses is the technical terms or “jargon” that validate expertise and knowledge as a veteran programmer. By showing his technical knowledge and ways he himself overcame roadblocks when programming helps the reader to take away more than what he did, but how he has succeeded to reach pinnacle moments that lead to fulfillment and lucrative levels in the field.

How I learned to be Google free

The writer immediately encourages his goal to entertain his audience. Using description and accounts such as “At a panel on search engines in 2009, a Microsoft executive said that using Google is like smoking cigarettes” later he refers to E-mail as “the linchpins of our online identities.” The writer takes the reader through his experience when trying to overcome these habits as a user and the terrifying realities that become ever so apparent to the security protocol and unannounced till this moment as he tries to find ways to recover e-mails that contain extremely personal information and fiscal data of his life. Also he informs the reader of his lack of attention to e-mail services that are paid for accounts that offer higher security measures.
